Snowy Owls Adventures 17/01/2025

Have a look at what Snowy Owls have been up to this week!

We have had a very busy week in Snowy Owls this week! In our learning play, we have been doing lots of fine motor activities to strengthen our fingers, and it is really showing in our letter formation. We have also been thinking about emotions and the expressions we make when we feel different things.

In outdoor learning, we are learning about animal habitats and have a go at building some ourselves. In PE, we are learning about different ways to move and balance.

We are also learning about winter, and this week we have been thinking about how people and animals survive in winter. We explored the poem ‘A winter parcel’ by Linda Hammond and talked about the different clothes we wear in winter and how they help us stay warm. We also made bird feeders and hung them in our outdoor area to help the birds survive whilst it is harder for them to find food,

In Talk for Writing, we have created a piece of group art to represent the Daddy and baby penguins in our book. We have learnt that the Daddy penguins keep the babies warm by hiding them under their feathers, while the mummies go out to fish. We also learnt that a baby penguin hatches from an egg and is called a chick, and we were fascinated to watch a video of penguins moving around in a circle to take turns being warm in the middle.
