Assemblies & Collective Worship

At Glebeland, our daily assemblies are held in line with the 1988 Education Reform Act which states that collective worship in schools will be "wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian nature". We also reflect the religious backgrounds represented in our communities and our assemblies are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to the faiths and beliefs of all members of our school community.

Through our assemblies, we aim to provide a caring and supporting environment for children to become increasingly aware of themselves as individuals and as part of a group. These take place in a variety of forms, including:

  • Learning Characteristics assemblies – led by Miss Davies and teaching staff
  • Class assemblies - led by teachers
  • Music assemblies led by peripatetic music teacher, Ms Ribbons
  • School Council Assemblies – led by Mr Lamoureux and our School Council Leaders
  • Weekly Celebration Assemblies - led by Miss Davies, recognising and sharing the successes of our pupils
  • Half-termly class assemblies, where families are invited to join us

Our assemblies are a crucial part of our social, moral, spiritual and cultural development. They also provide us with additional opportunities to make our children aware of our school values, our Trust Learning Characteristics and British values.

The Religious Education teaching in the school is in accordance with the Norfolk Agreed Syllabus. If you so wish, you may withdraw your child from RE or Collective Worship at school. If you decide to do this, it would be appreciated if the request were made to the Academy Head in writing.
